About Me
I was born and raised in a tiny town in Texas called Mineral Wells. I am currently pursing my Ph.D. at University of California, Davis as part of the Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Physiology Graduate Group.
My undergraduate degree was in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Radford University in Radford, VA. I transferred to RU in 2012 from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. In my time at Radford I became very involved with research (read about it here), and am so happy I was introduced to the joy of science! I graduated as a fellow of the scholar-citizen initiative, because as a scientist I believe strongly in public outreach and education. My undergraduate research experience is with the endocrine disrupting chemical trenbolone, a synthetic androgen, and I explored its effects on the freshwater fish, Gambusia holbrooki. Read about my undergraduate research project here.
For my future goals: Some day I'd like to work for the EPA or the USDA determining how safe the chemicals we use today are for the environment and those living in it. Read more about my future goals here.
In my free time I really enjoy knitting and reading. Fun Fact: I have a running list of things to go see with a time machine. See it here. My favorite type of food is Vietnamese, and one day I hope to travel to Vietnam. Despite loving nature, I'm terrible at keeping plants alive, I think I love them too much!
My CV is available for viewing here and download below. It includes my current work experience, relevant course work, and lab techniques mastered. Please contact me for a list of references.
